Last year, GM joined Ram in the eight-speed family. Today, General Motors launched the 2016 Chevrolet Silverado, which expands the optional eight-speed (a ten-speed is in the works) to the 6.2 liter V8. The GM eight-speed was developed in-house, and is around the same size and weight as the company six-speed; its 7.0 overall gear ratio spread is the same as Ram’s eight-speed.
The truck has new grilles, with the old lower headlights replaced by LED daytime running lights, and a new hood that appears to impede visibility. The infotainment system has also been updated.
In addition, Ford repeated that it would trim the weight of their heavy duty pickups by using aluminum bodies in the 2017 model year, which will start production in 2016. (...) →
